What People Say About

Don't Judge A Book By Its Cover

Laugh, Cry, Remember
I enjoyed Papaw's book. I laughed and I cried. Mostly, it helped me recall many fond memories of growing up that seldom come to mind anymore. The last chapter was difficult because I experienced something very similar 15 years ago with my Mom. His story brought it all back like it happened yesterday. Papaw is an incredible man and his book gives you an up-close and personal feeling about him. I highly recommend this to anyone who has met him and anyone who enjoys reading about 'real' people.

Lives up to it's name.
I am in no way a reader of many books but I was unable to put this one down. I finished it in a matter of days. It truly lives up to it's name. As written by him, he is often referred to as 'intimidating'. After reading the book I consider him to be many things but 'intimidating' is not one of them. Granted, I still would not want to take him on in a fist fight. Never would I have guessed the complexity of this man. I recommend it to everyone whether you have the pleasure of knowing him or not.

Larger Than Life!
Bigger than life. No book can hold him! That's my first reaction to this warm and heartfelt and smart and funny and innocent and joyous and humble book. With a unique voice that speaks to the innocence in all of us, Steve 'Papaw' Pyatte paints in broad strokes and subtle touches the picture of his times – and our times. From laugh out loud funny to tearful warmth and remembrance, there isn't an emotion you WON'T experience in this simple yet oh-so-complex and deep memoir. You'll read it - and then find yourself paging back to reread other portions that touch you. And then you'll recommend it to a friend. Because this book deserves to be read.
Needs to be read by anyone who has ever been a Mom, a Dad, a son, a daughter, a brother, a sister...a friend...a human being. A stunning publishing debut. And remembrances you'll never forget because they'll conjure for you your own memories - many of which you may have feared you've lost for good. Discover 'Papaw.' And rediscover yourself.

Don't Judge A Book By Its Cover - Giving Back and Living Large
'Don’t Judge a Book By Its Cover' is a story about Steve “Papaw” Pyatte - a biker who at some point in his life refocused his vision of how living large and giving back looks and now lives from the vision he created. It is a book about the importance of family, faith, and friends. It is about hopes and dreams; about over coming obstacles; and about becoming a leader instead of a follower. Most importantly, 'Don’t Judge a Book By Its Cover' is about learning how to give back. It is about creating a vision and setting goals and the rewards that the small things in life bring. It is a book about baby steps. - It is about the mystical memories of youth and how the past does not necessarily define your future. It is a book that underscores the truth that at any time you are in control of your destiny. Read this book slowly. Take advantage of your time with Pyatte. He tells the truth as he discovered it. He is not afraid of telling it like it is and was. In 'Don’t Judge a Book By Its Cover' Pyatte roughs you up a little and just when you get comfortable he offers more truths that will challenge your perspective, make you think and then possibly alter your results. Pyatte writes from his own life experiences. He reminisces about the past, his family and upbringing and mistakes that he made along the way. He takes you on a ride to places that you will recognize and relates experiences that you will find familiar. Pyatte can be gentle, sympathetic, loving, funny and in your face all at the same time. He does not mince words. He tells the sometimes cold and ugly truth in a way that is provocative, interesting and funny. Steve “Papaw” Pyatte is an amazing individual and a very good storyteller. His “truths” might set you free but first they may piss you off. Open your minds – jump in with both feet – enjoy the ride. And by the way – do not share this book. If you think it is good enough for a friend to read – buy him or her copy. Do not lend it either. How will the author ever make any money? Instead buy several books – in fact buy a case to share and get ready to smile – it is that good – trust me.

A very nice look into the past
I loved all of the parts about the past and growing up in the 50's, 60's and 70's. It made me remember things I had almost forgotten from my own past. It gave me a warm feeling inside.
